In 1924, the communists closed the monastery. The last abbess of Bodbe, Nino (in the world, Elene Vachnadze), despite numerous threats, did not leave the monastery, but was eventually forced to abandon Bodbe and settle in Tbilisi, near the Anchiskhati Church, where she passed away.
