St. Nina’s Cathedral

The construction of the Cathedral of Saint Nino began in 2009 with the blessing and prayers of His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, and was completed in 2019. The architect of the cathedral is T. Beridze; the painter, M. Mikeladze; and the mosaic artist, A. Bakuradze.
The church is faced with limestone and Nichbisi tuff and roofed with lorphine stone. The floor is laid with onyx stone specially imported from Iran, and the iconostasis is likewise carved from onyx. The icons on the iconostasis were painted by M. Mikeladze, and the ornamentation was designed by D. Kakabadze. The walls and apse of the sanctuary (altar) are covered with mosaics, and at present, mosaic work is being carried out in the dome.
